Re: [SOLVED] no network after arch 2014.10.01 install

RTNETLINK: File exists

This is the line that says that something else is trying your interface before netctl gets ahold of it.
Do a netctl list and a * is placed by any enabled profile.  Want to make sure we don't have any conflicts.  If you were to have a wireless and a wired it wouldn't conflict, because it's two different interfaces.

Thanx, when I issue that command all I see is "work_network" which does not have  * by it, which I'm assuming means it's not enabled.

Re: [SOLVED] no network after arch 2014.10.01 install

I'm using cmst, so that probably was an active profile that * is associated with.  We comfirmed that it was enabled.  Go ahead and disable it so that maybe it'll make it easier to find whatever is conflicting with it.  Then when you reboot, maybe we can find if it has an IP address assigned to it somewhere.  Of course, we could probably check it without rebooting, just run ip addr to see what it is currently since we know that the netctl profile failed.

Re: [SOLVED] no network after arch 2014.10.01 install

Took it a step further.

I deleted work_network profile, copied the dhcp profile from examples, rebooted and it worked, had a connection.  Disabled and deleted the dhcp profile, copied the static profile from examples, made the same edits as I had before, enabled it, rebooted and BAM, have a static connection.  Have no clue.

solving thread, and THANK YOU for your help.
