Hi,
my evince 3.14.1-2 (up to date version from stable repo) crashes if I try to open pdf files without any error message.
The only way to get some error output is stating it from a terminal:
(evince:2655): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: The property GtkSettings:gtk-menu-images is deprecated and shouldn't be used anymore. It will be removed in a future version.
Speicherzugriffsfehler (Speicherabzug geschrieben)The last line (german) means: segmentation fault (core dumped)
Sometimes it doesn't crash immediately after opening a pdf file, but as soon as I try to scroll down/up it crashes.
I haven't found any bug in the bugtracker that could be related.
Trace:
Starting program: /usr/bin/evince
Got object file from memory but can't read symbols: File truncated.
warning: Could not load shared library symbols for linux-vdso.so.1.
Do you need "set solib-search-path" or "set sysroot"?

Hi! I have the same problem. With the last update, Evince became very unstable and seems to crash when rendering certain parts of PDFs. Sometimes it occurs when zooming in, and some PDFs will cause a segfault immediately. Just starting up Evince without opening any document works, however.
They changed a lot in the interface (probably to match some new Gnome guidelines). I use it in Xfce and wonder if that might cause problems. However, there is probably not much the Arch Community can do, as it is likely a bug that needs to be fixed by the Evince developers.
I downgraded to 3.12.2 and will wait for bug fixes.

Are you using patched fonts like Ubuntu or Infinality with patched cairo package? I haven't had any problems with evnice so far.

Do you mean the patched ubuntu packages (cairo-ubuntu) like this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fo … ion#Ubuntu ?
Or do you mean the ubuntu font itself (ttf-ubuntu-font-family)?
I had installed the latter one, but removed it to check if it was related to the bug. Evince is still crashing, so I guess that's not the package you meant.
My installed packages containing "cairo":
cairo 1.14.0-1
cairomm 1.10.0-3
python-cairo 1.10.0-4
python2-cairo 1.10.0-2

My evince 3.14.1-2 from the official repos also started crashing today. To reproduce (works every time), open the Linux Voice issue 9 PDF version and click Ctrl-f to search. After about a second the application segfaults. Issue 4 of the same magazine works just fine. Nothing is different in the terminal output of Evince when opening the two documents except for the "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" message.
I have not had problems with Evince crashing before.
