XBMC video playback hang when playing DRM content

Hi,

When I'm playing DEM content on XBMC video hang after few minutes.
Audio is still playing but video is freez.

I have laptop Thinkpad T410, My card is Intel 5700MHD [8086 :0046]
Driver is intel and I add i915 to mkinitcipo.conf
In 20-intel.conf
there is only additional option:

Option "Backlight" "intel_backlight"

error from dmesg:

[drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hancheck timer elapsed... bsd ring idle

Any idea how to fix it?

This seems to be a recurring and persistent bug that's been reported all over for various kernel versions up to the current one (google the error message). There are no obvious solutions floating to the top - but acceleration methods seem to be a common theme, so if I were you I'd start by trying other acceleration options. If you are using SNA (if you haven't specified this in an xorg conf file SNA is the default) then try UXA and/or glamor.

EDIT: full disclosure I really don't know how such issues work at all - so someone more knowledgeable may point out my suggestion is crazy - but it certainly wouldn't do any harm to try. I'm only putting together vague clues from dealing with recent unrelated intel-dri/mesa issues myself when I perused *many* bug reports not really understanding most of what I was reading.

I changed to glamor and xbmc working without crash but screen is black on Skype video and vlc.
Any idea?

XBMC crash to after while...

Just a side note.
Are you sure you're trying to play "drm" content (digital right managment)?
I'm asking because afaik xbmc doesn't support that, and the drm message you're seeing stands for "direct rendering manager", totally unrelated.

@kokoko3k jest probably I used this "drm" acronym wrong because of error that I have.
I use http://sd-xbmc.org/ addon to watch vod site like: www.player.pl, www.tvp.pl.
It's working because on second laptop everything works great, it has also intel graphic chip but different one.

For now I change to UXA and everything seem to be stable smooth.
