When I tried to install a kernel from the AUR yesterday I got an error towards the end that I'm out of memory, at first I was quite confused until I realized that it used up all my RAM (4GB) without even touching my SWAP partition (means that also other programs only use my ram), of course I tried to solve the problem by going through the Wiki and multiple guides and forum entries focusing on swap but in the end nothing worked.
Here are all the files and configurations that relate to my Swap

What was the specific message? I would be more inclined to believe you ran out of space on tmp rather than you ran out of RAM.

I saved the error message but when I wrote the forum entry I couldn't find it anymore.
I ran the whole thing again with English locales (system is set to German) so that the error is properly readable without me screwing up the translation:

you can
systemctl mask tmp.mount to make /tmp use your hdd instead of ram
Or you can specify a directory that is not on tmpfs for package building in makepkg.conf
Or you can stop using yauort and build stuff with makepkg -s which will build stuff in a directory your pkgbuild is located

Haha, I guess I got a bit lazy since I installed yaourt a few day's ago (well can you blame me I don't have to track down dependency's anymore saves a huge chunk of time and nerve).
One last question on that matter:
will:
systemctl mask tmp.mountuse my specified swap or will it just use free space of my SSD?
If it uses my swap will it jump over to RAM when it completely populatet the swap?
(I'm asking that because I'm planning on upgrading my ram up to 8GB anyway and I really want to use my swap for all the task's that aren't too important)
I will probably build it with makepkg myself.

By default Arch uses tmpfs for /tmp, thus stuff in /tmp gets put in memory (and can be swapped out; by default tmpfs filesystems are half of the RAM big). Masking tmp.mount should make Arch use the disk for /tmp (stuff in /tmp would eat the space of your root partition).

Why do you want use swap? You system will probably come to a halt if it starts swapping while building the kernel.
Yes, masking tmp will use space on your hdd.
