Hey there,
I've been using awesomeWM for some time, but one thing I've always had troubles with is the systray.

The systray in the above image has four icons - dropbox, hipchat, google chrome and google hangouts. However for some reason, wibox.widget.systray() piles the icons on top of themselves. I've always had this problem regardless of what my rc.lua looks like.
Does anybody know what could be causing this?

So my rc.lua still isn't too far from the default, but I have those same icons, plus clipit and nm-applet with no issues. With that said, I'm not sure that there's much you can do to affect the behavior of wibox.widget.systray unless you have something else in your rc.lua that is perhaps overloading the systray:draw or systray:fit functions.

Well you can see my rc.lua file here: https://gist.github.com/johnhamelink/0d … 6907ed4eb3
Speaking as a lua newbie, is it possible I have an out of date version of the wibox lib? How is it packaged in arch?

Hipchat probably does something stupid/non-compliant and awesome doesn't handle that too good.
In my case the hipchat icon is drawn over my xxkb label.

@damjan, yes you were right >_>

Weird. I did not have that issue today (coincidentally I just started testing hipchat for work today). I ended up uninstalling and going with the web client due to sound not working... but that's unrelated to this thread.

I reckon it's to do with the width/height of the icon

Did OP find the solution to this? Am having the same issue myself, however the Dropbox icon is in correct order in my systray but still has white background.
