Followed the wiki instructions for gummiboot, edited /boot/loader/entries/*.conf to include initrd /intel-ucode.img
At boot I get the message:
Failed to open file: intel-ucode.img
Trying to load files to higher address
Failed to open file: intel-ucode.img
Any help would be very welcome and appreciated, thanks all

1) Does intel-ucode.img exist in the same folder/directory that your initramfs... exists?
2) Did you use the same path as you did to the initramfs.....?
3) I assume removing the "intel-ucode.img" stuff makes the machine boot again?

Thanks for the help! I hadn't installed intel-ucode, so /intel-ucode.img was not in /boot
