Well I've been using my sixaxis for a while now under Steam and it works great... Unfortunately, I'm more addicted to Minecraft, and the default action of the sixaxis makes it super aggravating to use.
The default operation is to have the left stick act as a mouse and the right stick act as an actual joystick-pad. What I want is a way to swap these so that the left stick acts as a joystick-pad and the right stick acts as a mouse. Qjoypad, antimicro, etc only let me map keys/mouse actions to the various buttons, but the right dpad always seems to still act as a joystick-pad regardless of the assigned mapping (meaning that when I map the right stick to mouse movements in antimicro, I can look around with it in Minecraft, but it also still changes the selected item in my inventory hotbar). I'm sure there's got to be a way to fix this... anyone got any ideas?
Edit: typo...

Well I figured a way to work it after all, so i'm gonna mark this one as solved...
Anyone else who may be interested in my method for getting this done can follow these steps:
1) Find controller id under the "Virtual core pointer" list by running xinput
2) Run xinput disable {id#}
3) Configure button mapping with your favorite program (I like antimicro, others like qjoypad... find whatever works for you)
