[SOLVED] OpenGL GLX problem (glxinfo - Xlib: extension "GLX" missing)

Hello,

I have a problem with steam.
When I start steam, it fails on "OpenGL GLX extension not supported by display".

Re: [SOLVED] OpenGL GLX problem (glxinfo - Xlib: extension "GLX" missing)

you can remove steam from the title, glxinfo shows there are problems with your graphics setup.

post your xorg.0.log please (if you can't find it in /var/log folder , check the wiki for other places the log might be)

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Re: [SOLVED] OpenGL GLX problem (glxinfo - Xlib: extension "GLX" missing)

I want to use nvidia driver.

I have to uninstall xf86-video-nouveau, haven't I?
Do I need restart after?

Re: [SOLVED] OpenGL GLX problem (glxinfo - Xlib: extension "GLX" missing)

then remove the nouveau driver,

pacman -Rns xf86-video-nouveau should do that, but check thoroughly for any questions pacman asks you, else it may remove to much.

Don't know if that is the issue, but does this mean you have _all_ the drivers installed?
If not the just ignore my speculation.

Re: [SOLVED] OpenGL GLX problem (glxinfo - Xlib: extension "GLX" missing)

PRep,

that is typical output when X is started without a config file.

Sterver, we need to know more about your system.

laptop / desktop , processor, videocard ?
Is there an Optimus logo on the case ?

please post the output of lspci -k.

Also post a complete dmesg (you may want to put that on a pastebin site, see wiki ).

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?

Re: [SOLVED] OpenGL GLX problem (glxinfo - Xlib: extension "GLX" missing)

OK, I probably solved it.

I installed bumblebee.
$ sudo pacman -Syu mesa-dri xf86-video-intel bumblebee nvidia lib32-nvidia-utils
according to wiki, and after reboot, glxgears works.

$ glxgears
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
305 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.996 FPS

So, thanks for your help.

Re: [SOLVED] OpenGL GLX problem (glxinfo - Xlib: extension "GLX" missing)

Open the nvidia settings box at the right bottom corner. Click on "Nvidia settings configuration". Now check the box "Include X display names in the config file". Close session and login again or restart.
