[solved] Is systemd-readahead not supported any longer ?

Hi,

After a fresh Arch install (64bit ḱernel 3.17.2) on my hp notebook yesterday using lxde desktop environment I wanted to improve boot performance as usual by doing a

"sudo systemctl enable systemd-readahead-collect systemd-readahead-replay" (also part of the ArchWiki)

via terminal. But this time I got an error message that the file does not exist. So my question: Has systemd-readahead support been dropped ? A week before it worked on my xfce desktop. So I am confused now.

I've removed it from the wiki.
It already had a note that said

This feature's future is questionable due to a lack of attention. The majority of the developers make use of SSDs and thus don't use the feature. See [1].

Thank you for your decent replies. I ' ll use this opportunity to let you all know that you are really nice guys. I don't want to arse-lick but to be honest, I ve heard a lot of horror stories refering to the arch community (being rude/ignorant to newbies etc. ) - nothing is the case. I ' ve posted twice and you all gave me a warm welcome and answered to my questions in a really well behaved manor. So this topic is solved. Thanx !!!

That usually only happens when some people are too arrogant to read and understand the documentation, or expect the community to solve their problem without giving any effort to solve it themselves.

welcome to forums :)

I think we should provide different levels of support on the forum. Many computer games have difficulty levels described as 'hell' or 'nightmare' - maybe we can fulfill user expectations better if we belittle them, yell at them or ignore them ;-)

There's a very good reason why I have seventy some-odd posts in a little less than a year, and not one of them asking for help...

I'm afraid to!

I was having the exact same question as OP and it took me quite some searching to find this thread. Wouldn't it be a good idea to add a line in the Wiki informing users that systemd's readahead implementation has been removed?

Where exactly do you want to add it?
