I've used okular in the past to view cbr files (which are rar compressed files)
Today when I tried to open one okular says it can't open the file and a shprt message pops up to say "Cannot open document, unrar was not found"
However - unrar is installed and accessible and in my PATH ar /usr/bin/unrar
I've tried uninstalling both okular (the kdegraphics-okular package) and unrar but I still keep getting the same problem.
The cbr files can be unpacked with unrar from the command line.
I can use okular to load cbz files (which are zip compressed files) without trouble.
Any ideas?

Same problem here.
More Info:
Previews of .cbr files don't work anymore in Dolphin. Previews for .cbz are fine.
All .cbr files can be opened with other comic book viewers (successfully tested with yacreader, mcomix and paper), Okular is the only one failing.
Extracting/opening a .cbr file with Ark and P7zip is flawless.

Having the same problem. I temporarily downgraded to unrar 1:5.1.7-1 and libunrar 1:5.1.7-1 which works with the current okular.
You can find the older versions at the Arch Rollback machine - http://seblu.net/a/arm/2014/10/20/extra/os/x86_64/
Looks like the issue has been fixed in okular 4.14.3 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340323
The package is in testing https://www.archlinux.org/packages/?sor … =&flagged=

Nice. Okular works as expected now and my preview issue with dolphin was related to it: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341305
