Having some random font glyph errors randomly appearing after new reinstall. Not sure of the source. After no lucking changing font settings I tried upgrading to infinality-bundle which improved overall font look but still has the errors. When you use the text select tool over the bad rendered fonts they repaint properly. Will also appear disapear sometimes when scrolling quickly.

I had the same font problem in Firefox with the Open Source Radeon driver. Fixed by moving to Catalyst.

What is odd is the problem is only in Firefox. So is moving to catalyst fixed it for you is the bug in Radeon or Firefox?

I think this is a relatively new problem that has cropped up with the Radeon driver during the past few months. Previously, font rendering in Firefox was OK.
The Open Source Radeon driver has some other issues right now (i.e. lots of OS crashes on my graphics card), so it was not solely due to the broken font rendering in FF that I wanted to ditch it.

I have exactly this problem. [AMD/ATI] Pitcairn PRO [Radeon HD 7850] I was also suspecting open-source radeon drivers; haven't fixed it yet though. I am also seeing the same font corruption in urxvt sometimes; I'm using Terminus font there, so maybe it only happens with TTF fonts, or certain ones. Will try infinality.

Had this, stopped recently after some Mesa git or Firefox Nightly update, not sure which.

It's a known issue with glamor acceleration.
I'm on a 6850, so I'm using EXA by default, but if switch to glamor I'm having this issue.

Hi, i think this is a Open Source Drivers issue related to ATI/AMD.,only issue with firefox, the system works fine (KDE4) and another browser also (google-chrome-stable from AUR).

Nobody seems to give a definitive solution on the forum.
My Screenshot of Firefox (22 November).
Note: Currently I have dual boot ( Arch- Ubuntu 14.04 ) .
When I installed Ubuntu 14.04, i had the same problem, Ubuntu 14.04 comes with the kernel kernel 3.13.x and mesa 10.1.3 by default , so I decided to upgrade the graphics stack with PPA (Oibaf PPA) . The problem disappeared , currently Oibaf PPA has mesa 10.5 git.

I hope the new mesa drivers 10.4 ( 5 december release) fixed the issue:
Emil Velikov has announced the first release candidate for the upcoming Mesa 10.4 release.
Mesa 10.4 is tentatively scheduled for release on 5 December ..........................
