Can't burn CDs

Hello. For some reasons I cannot burn CDs with my combo drive.

This is what cdrecord -scanbus shows:

        1,0,0 100) 'HL-DT-ST' 'RW/DVD GCC-4521B' '1.04' Removable CD-ROM

However whenever I put a blank CD in the drive K3B complains that there is no CD in the drive.

Any ideas as to what might be causing it?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Can't burn CDs

Mmm, CD burning always worked great for me but I recently upgraded my hardware and magically it didn't work. I just put it down to the new hardware but I guess maybe a newer version has issues with some drives who knows.

I ended up with a temporary solution of just using cdrecord, it works ok.

cdrecord -v dev=/dev/hdc /path/to/image.iso

This is the output I received from the command you suggested:

Re: Can't burn CDs

Hmmm, that's kinda weird, don't u have any other OS running on this PC? if u have windows it would bt the ideal idea, just to isolate the source of the problem wether it's hardware related or a software related one

Re: Can't burn CDs

Looks like a hardware issue after all. My CD writer doesn't seem to like the blank Silverline media.

Thanks again Gandalf.
