Last night I fired up XMMS for the first time in awhile, and all the menu text was gone. What I mean by this is that all the menus seem to work in that they pop up, but the text to describe the menu choices is missing. Is anybody else seeing this?

works fine here

No problems here either.
Maybe try running it from a console to see if it offers any error messages, or try deleting the hidden .xmms folder from your /home directory, then start xmms. Other than that, maybe reinstalling Xmms will fix it.

I think it is a gtk problem not an xmms one, as deleting the xmms config and reinstalling had no effect. I also noticed that gtk1 had an update the other day.

I've done some testing and it affects all users, so I don't think this is a configuration problem.

do you get any output if you try running it from the command line?

None at all.

I was hoping there would be some error that would give us a hint. Sorry. I've been running xmms forever and it's never given me problems. Hopefully somebody that has dealt with this will chime in to help you.
Good luck!
