I can't right click on desktop and all icons missing from desktop
I have Xfce, and my desktop permissions are set to 777. I have put folders/files onto the desktop folder in the file manager nothing happens, and the if I go on desktop settings in setting manager under icons tab, the icons are all checked.
Now for the right clicking, I cannot right click on the desktop at all. As in their is no menu that shows up.

And how are you starting Xfce? (For example, what is in the "~/.xinitrc" file?)

in the .xinitrc file is "exec startxfce4". I had quickly written it so it may or may not be correct. But even if I start it using the command of "startxfce4" the same problem persists.

I purposely set it to 777 to try and test out if it would work. Ok, so I just looked at task manager and didn't see xfdesktop, and just ran xfdesktop through terminal, don't know if that's the right way to do it (tested this is on my VM, so no big deal).
