Firefox Tip - Fixing middle click to close tabs

I've been bugged by this for a while now, and finally tracked down why the middle click on my linux machine would open tabs, but not close them...

By default, middle clicking on a tab will load whatever is in the clipboard as if it were a URL. To fix it, you just have to go into Firefox's config (type
about:config
in the location bar, then find the preference labeled
middlemouse.contentLoadURL
, right-click on it and select the Toggle option to set it to false.

That's it! Hopefully this will help somebody else out...although it's quite possible that everyone aside from me already knew about it big_smile

The extention Tab Mix Plus also has an option to disable this feature of firefox and go back to middle-click-close, amongst other tab-related features. Handy lil' doodad, it is. smile

Ah, that's nice. I don't know how many times that damn middle mousebutton-click has annoyed the hell out of me. Thanks!
