Deleting Kubuntu/GRUB2? and installing Arch alongside Win8 on one HDD

Hi,

So basically I had installed Kubuntu on my PC, I have (U)EFI enabled and on boot GRUB2 asks me which to boot.

Now I want to basically delete all Kubuntu stuff and install Arch.

How should I proceed now? I'll have to wipe out the Kubuntu partitions but I'm not sure what to do next then.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wi … _dual_boot Is not clear about what one should do.

Tried searching but some posts contain RAID stuff, some use 2 harddrives and some just use legacy mode instead of UEFI.

Thanks.

When you finished your Arch installation. You should restart the Arch iso and chroot into installation then do the grub.cfg.
Beware to mount ESP on /boot, before setting up grub, otherwise see how to do it differently.

do it good first, it will be faster than do it twice the saint wink

Sorry, I don't get what you are describing.

I install arch as usual, chroot into it and then?
Also if not using GRUB is simpler I'd be up for that too.

I mention a couple of link in this thread, did you see them ?
There are several posts describing boot failures, did you see them ?

The rest is no comments.

That link gives me an error. I read the links but didn't really understand them.

Edit: ended up working, used gummiboot and Arch/Win8.1 dualboot is working smile

Why not GRUB if you wanted so? os-prober will probably detect Windows

Well I didn't have a preference and gummiboot seemed easy to use smile
