Can Arch News items become Announcements automatically?

If you take even the briefest glance around here today, it seems clear that not everyone who uses the forum reads Arch News. I'm wondering would it be possible for new Arch News articles to automatically trigger a new Announcement thread here?

This is an idea, btw, not a request, and I'm as guilty as anyone else of not reading the news as often as I should. If it dies here, so be it.

not a bad idea as far as the package upgrade news goes but in my opinion that should be up to the devs to post in announcements or the FA's if they don't do it.

I agree with penguin - we can't cretae mechanisms for everything - pasting a mesage and posting ain't hard

I do not read the frontpage of ArchLinux often and I may skip reading the forum sometimes too for a period. So I added my email to the mailinglist, pressented along with the news, but then I got tons of mail, so I had du unregister.

:idea: So I wish for a news-mailing-list.

It should be possible using arch, without hanging out on the forum all the time.

Oh, one more (better)idea, I'm creative today

:idea: If no mailinglist is made, maybe pacman could pressent all new news since last time you used it? Then people cant miss impotent messages!

I think RSS to forum its a good idea, although i read the forums, the news and recibe the mail list, it would be nice to have a post where the particular news can be discussed without the need of a user creating the topic, also it would be very helpful when there is an important change and the forums gets full of questions and problems about it... instead we would have 1 thread (ideally) containing all the arisen issues.

Maybe its worth it....

Isn't that the other way around? I mean, I thought we wanted the Front Page Announcements posted automatically TO the Forum... not the other way...

Did i get it wrong?
