How to get a bootable DVD/CD on a uefi pc

Hi,
I am using a laptop with uefi firmware. It has also rEFInd installed and working.

I downloaded the Achboot the archlinux-2014.11.01-archboot.iso and burned it after checking md5sum.
Unfortunately I cannot boot it.
Did I miss something?

Re: How to get a bootable DVD/CD on a uefi pc

What happens when you try to boot it?  Are there errors?  Where does the boot process fail?  Is the system configured to boot from CD first?  Is the system capable of booting from a CD/DVD?

How did you burn the iso to the disk?

Re: How to get a bootable DVD/CD on a uefi pc

When I choose the dvd as first boot option it ends on a 2 line menu:

* EFI Default loader (this loops indefinitely)
* reboot in firmware interface (this returns to the EFI firmware GUI)

If I select rEFInd as first boot option it displays a lot of cd icons. Some give the previous menu, others ends in flow of "error not correct XFS inode" lines. An other one present a new menu :

* ArchLinux x86_x64_archboo Non-EFISTUB (this returns to the inumerable number of "error not correct XFs inodes" lines.
* UEFI shell X64 v2
* UEFI shell X64 v1
* exit grub

I burned the CD with brasero as I always do.

Re: How to get a bootable DVD/CD on a uefi pc

I know this is not the answer to your question, but my first UEFI laptop just would not boot from a CD/DVD in UEFI mode. I had to burn a USB stick. I never got it to boot from CD/DVD and never figured out why.

If you figure it out, I'd love to know how you did it!

(FWIW: That was an Acer i7, bought new in December 2012. There was a firmware update that came out about 6 months after I bought it, and I updated to the new firmware-- but never tried booting a CD/DVD with the new firmware. Maybe it would have worked? Do you have a firmware upgrade for your machine and are willing to try that route?)

Please do not mark your thread as 'closed', use 'SOLVED' if it is solved so others might find it helpful.  Closed is used by moderators when we actually close a thread and generally it indicates that it would not be useful for others to see.

OK. As it is not really solved I removed the [closed] mark only.
