Garbled graphics when boot from USB

When I boot, I get nothing.  When nomodeset is on, I get the screen in the picture below.

It's the nVidia GT610

Things may have changed and please correct me if I'm wrong. But when I used to run nVidia gpu's I would naturally boot with these options; nomodeset noapic noacpi nofb it would generally work until I could get some drivers running. I haven't used nVidia since... Ubuntu 9.10 was when I switched to ATI

Unfortunatly, this produced the same result; however pci=noacpi got me past the garbled screen.  With this; however, I have no IDE hard drives or netork adapters.
