Pre Alpha build is available for Linux, has anyone tried it yet? There is a download on UT official forums, and I saw a video on YT, the guy claimed that he tried it on linux... Are you happy to see new UT (it will be free to play) on linux?

Me happy. Me has hardware that can run UT2k4 - barely ...

Tried it, works, happy. Though the server was always full, so couldn't play a multiplayer match, only this test room thing.

Nice, I'm downloading it! ![]()

I'm confused.
The Epic website keeps saying it's free, but when I try to associate my github account it asks for a credit card number and $19 a month...![]()

I got confused too, for which was the purpose of my previous post. Anyway, the link below the youtube video is pretty straight forward.

The 19$ per month is for access to the Unreal Engine 4 source code.

@smirky -- didn't see that link, thanks!
@ChemBro -- yes, of course how silly of me. Thank you!

You have instructions here... https://forums.unrealtournament.com/sho … structions
I've tried it, maps still have some default textures, but weapon texures look nice... You need to register on their forums to download the game, and after that find linux version, extract it and play. ![]()

I tried the one from AUR which still requires you to download the up-to-date zip manually. I experience some heavy light graphics making it unplayable. My GPU is GeForce 450 GTS using the nvidia drivers.

I had the same issue, only on a few maps... (I have 460 GTX) The game is still in pre alpha.

I just installed ut4 from AUR with the latest zip from the "secret" thread, but changed the PKGBUILD to install UT4 to $HOME/.local/share instead of /opt due to limited space. When I try to run it, this pops up in steam-looking window:
"Failed to open descriptor file at '../../../UE4/UE4.uproject'
CrashReportClient gives me this:

Are you sure you downloaded right client? Linux client?
You just need to extract .zip, go to games root folder and:
cd Engine/Linux/Binaries
chmod +x UE4
./UE4 UnrealTournament UNIX is basically a simple operating system, but you have to be a genius to understand the simplicity.

I had that error too, but got rid of it by installing 'utlauncher-git' from AUR. I'm not quite sure if it's a fix or a requirement and the two packages go together?

"./UE4 UnrealTournament" is what did it for me.
Though using the Aur package i used "UnrealTournament4 UnrealTournament" (as the UnrealTournament4 that is linked in /usr/bin path)
The key is adding UnrealTournament as an "option" after the executable, i did not have that information until i saw this thread, thanks ![]()
(Possibly the launcher you got launched it this way and thus is why it worked)

Thanks, both works, although the utlauncher-git additionally provides a lobby to chose servers and various settings.
