Earbuds and Non USB headphones don't work

I've been trying to get my earbuds working with Arch Linux, They worked on Debian before by just plugging them in. This problem seems to be with anything in the headphone jack as i've tried other earbuds and headphones too. There is no new devices in kmix or Alsamixer when I plug in the earbuds.

Are you using PulseAudio?  If so, in alsamixer, look for a setting called (IIRC) Automute.  If it exists , turn it off.

Sorry for the late response, I haven't found automute in alsamixer.
