I tried to open the link of the video (something like http://www.ustream.tv/embed/9979779) with vlc, but nothing is played

Videograbber.net supposedly can grab live videos but I haven't tested it.

This is probably not an ideal solution, but I think you could try using a screencast application such as simplescreenrecorder to do this for you.
