acpi_listen does not work

Hello Friends,

I am using arch linux  in conjuction with i3wm and I want to bind some usefull keys to do some actions like mute/unmute microphone, printscreen, etc..
The problem is that when I run

acpi_listen

to detect the hotkey's code it gives me

acpi_listen: can't open socket /var/run/acpid.socket: No such file or directory

What should I do? Is there any other way to detect these keys?

Thank you for your time.

*I am using thinkpad X220 and I have acpi and acpid installed

Did you start/enable the acpid service ?

Re: acpi_listen does not work

Are you sure the keys are detected using acpid, anyway?

You probably want e.g. xev (to show keycodes) and xbindkeys (to run commands on keystrokes).

Re: acpi_listen does not work

acpi_listen recently stopped working for me as well.  I don't get the error message you are seeing but acpi doesn't see the key-presses anymore.

drrossum, please open a new thread. Your issue is different from the one the OP is seeing.
