Re: arch64 help/offer

The PKGBUILD contains the information about the
- package (name, version),
- its dependencies,
- where the source of the program can be found
- and how it should be configured, built and installed.

If you download a PKGBUILD you can try to build the package with "makepkg", altough some PKGBIULDs require extra files. The easiest way is to check the AUR for a program you want, and click on the "tarball" link. That will contain all the needed files to build a package.

If you still fail to build the package, you need to reed the messages before the error.

Re: arch64 help/offer

thanks FUBAR

i think im getting a handle on this ive made a few PKGBUILD's of my own
this morning looks to me they work the built & installed & are
functioning so i believe ive found some success. WOOOHOO!
the packages ive built are mainly for me (etree-scripts & xmms-shn) both
deal with compressed .wav > .shn (a lossless format)  if youd like to try them let me know ill post /pm/mail them to you

ive tried a couple off http://www.arch64.org/svn/trunk/ with no success
so far
the AUR stuff will it work with arch64 ?

ill keep hammering at it though
thanks again

Depends on the package. Read up at www.arch64.org and look in the Wiki, Andy has a list a mile long he'd like done. Anything you feel you can do just jump in smile

You might as well register with AUR and upload them there: chances are many more people will try them and give you feedback.

Re: arch64 help/offer

Hm. AUR should not be used for pure x86_64 packages untill there's an option to mark the architecture.

In Arch64 we have all community packages as binaries ;-)
