Re: xinit: connection to X server lost

But your X server says:

[ 43.213] (EE) Server terminated successfully (0). Closing log file.

There's something else failing.

What do you mean by "I can't login", respectively how would you expect to login ?
How do you start X ?

Normally, I log in by issuing the 'startx' command on the command line after entering my username and passwd.

Re: xinit: connection to X server lost

Could you try another wm or xterm?

E.g. 'exec xterm' in .xinitrc .
Also see, e.g.: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 4#p1483654

Hi rebootl,

Thanks for the tip.
In .xinitrc I replaced 'exec startlxqt' with 'exec openbox-session' and the graphical desktop came up. Not everything because openbox only partially installed as much as needed for lxqt to work.
Now, it is obvious that nothing is wrong with the xorg files but the recently upgraded qt5 files causing the problem.

Re: xinit: connection to X server lost

Okay, makes sense. Maybe someone else can better help with this, I don't know much about it...
Temporarly try to downgrade, isolate the problem.

Ah, if lxqt is from AUR you maybe have to update it as well (rebuild), so that it's working with the updated qt5 stuff.

This is all still somewhat new stuff. Maybe I'll give lxqt a try myself, but it won't be today anymore.
Good Luck.
Regards
