So okay, I`ve bought a new laptop, installed arch (I don`t regret it), everything was fine and so on back then.
I was running 2.6.13 and ati-drivers 8.20.
No problems.
Then I have tried upgrading to 2.6.15.
I was able to boot, again, everything worked.
However after a hour or so system completely froze.
After reboot everything was fine again. For few hours.
Needless to say that I`ve downgraded to 2.6.13.
Yet again, everything was perfect.
Of course I couldn`t stay on 2.6.13 forever, so few weeks later I`ve upgraded back to 2.6.15.
This time I`ve download 8.22 ati drivers.
So far so good.
I`ve experienced freezing few times again, but it wasn`t so bad, one reboot a week, so I didn`t bother.
Now I`m on archck, using ati-fglrx-archck package (8.23.7-1).
System completely froze again, second time in two days.

Any ideas of what`s the reason of these hangs?

Some attention, yay.
Sorry, didn`t really know where to post this thread, it might be kernel/hardware issue, but might not as well.
I have no idea what causes these hangs, it`s just a guess that it`s ATI.
EDIT: There we go, system froze just as I was editing this message. I _really_ need help.

Try xorg's native ati drivers to see if you still get the freeze.

I`ve uninstalled ati-fglrx-archck package, we`ll see what happens.

Just minutes ago Xserver crashed.
Again, dunno what`s the reason.
Here`s another big everything.log:

After this crash I`ve decided to install ati drivers back.
Minutes ago my system froze again :?
I think I`ll compile my own kernel.

Funny,
I have the same issues after installing this fglrx stuff... But now I deinstalled it again so I don't know why it is still freezing.
It can actually happen 2 minutes after booting... and sometimes it runs up to 30minutes...
It has nothing to do with how much CPU is getting used... But I find that if I use firefox it happens more often.
I have no idea how I should even start tracing stuff... The logs reveal absolutely nothing.
I mean, fair enough... because the system freezes so how should it write what is causing it to a log. :-P
I don't have any hope... :-D

I`ve removed ~/.fonts (i remember having some trouble with additional fonts on slackware), upgraded everything (even amarok, to v1.4 beta2).
And I arch is running well for like a day now.
And I didn`t even recompile the kernel, I`m still on archck.
Of course one day doesn`t really prove that the problem is solved, but it`s something (I`ve had two crashes yesterday).

Good for you. :-)
If it freezes again I will make a point in reinstalling arch... I was never a fan and I never gave somebody advice that reinstall could be a possible solution to a problem... But I have no idea otherwise.
In the event of a freeze I will dd if=one and dd if=zero / plus randomize my harddisk to see if there is a problem with some bad sectors or something... That is the only thing I would guess could be the problem. Because I can use my machine for hours when working with a live-cd.
Wish me luck. :-P

Kindda window-ish solution.
Have you tried compiling your own kernel, without any patches or anything?
Good luck in one way or another.

Yeah, I tried different kernel...
Always patched though (Needed for encryption)... Because they used to work flawlessly.
Doesn't work... Well whatever. Until now it didn't crash on me... Didn't do much browsing though... So it's not a real indicator. :-D
Thanks.
