No speakers on dell inspiron 7000 [SOLVED]

Hello all!
I just intalled arch today, and nearly everything seems to be working well. I'm using gnome. The problem I am having is that I cannot get the speakers on my laptop to work. I've read through the wiki and searched the internet but I just can't find anything useful. I don't know what kind of information would help the most, I just know that I've tried unmuting all of the channels I could find. If I plug in a pair of headphones, those work, it's just the internal laptop speakers that won't. Thanks for your help!

Have you tried alsamixer?
I think you will find controls for "Master", "Headphone" and "Speaker". If you have more than one soundcard, see that you choose the right card in alsamixer (F6).

Are you using Pulseaudio?  Is there any chance that the audio is going somewhere else, like to an HDMI output?

You may wan to look at the outputs of:
aplay -l
aplay -L
pactl --info

for clues

I really have no idea what changed. I came back to try and fix this again today and suddenly everything is working. All I did was run the commands posted by ewaller to try and figure out where my audio was going. Well, thanks for the help anyway fellas. I will mark solved as soon as I am sure it will persist after a reboot.
