Hi,
I have been using arch for a couple of years now, great distro, I really like it.
I had to re-install my laptop and I chose syslinux instead of grub this time
and I am now facing a strange problem ![]()
every time i reboot the system with a reboot command or the restart button in gnome then after bios the syslinux doesn't display the menu and hang forever.
But if I completely shutdown the system then it always shows the menu and everything work

What is in your journal after a failed boot attempt?
Not an Installation issue, moving to NC...

journalctl doesn't display anything related to the failed boot. After I restart, the journal shows all programs shutting down. Then there is an empty period which correspond to the failed boot. After I shutdown the laptop and start it up again, the journal resume as normal, starting every programs.

SkarZ,
The problem may be caused at shutdown fase of the reboot process.
check this for details on how to log shutdown process.
post the shutdown-log.txt
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky
