questions of sound card digital and analog output?

Hi All,
    I connected external dac play music via usb!my sound panel got below two output!

Digital Output (S/PDIF) - PS AudioUSB Audio 2.0
Analog Output - PS AudioUSB Audio 2.0

    I got confuse with above two output,select "Digital Output" can play music via

usb port!as i know S/PDIF should be mean coaxial,but my side did not connect any

cable to the DAC coaxial input!why got sound via usb port?
   
    and if select "Analog output"  also will got sound via usb port!but the problem is
pulseaudio can not crontol pre-application volume!

    I confuse what is different between Digital Output and Analog Output!Choose
which is correct?anybody could let me know?Thanks
