I have a microSD (32 GB SDHC 1) card that has it's size set to 0 after it is inserted, thus rendering it useless, and I was hoping someone could help me figure out and understand what is going on, so I get actually use the card. My dmesg output after inserting the card is the following:
[ 3818.256594] usb 7-1: new full-speed USB device number 3 using ohci-pci
[ 3818.424238] usb-storage 7-1:1.0: USB Mass Storage device detected

[ 3819.570937] sdd: sdd1
[ 3823.154539] sdd: detected capacity change from 2196674445312 to 0I tried accessing the card in Ubuntu 13 on the same machine and I run into the same problem (size set to 0) with near identical output from dmesg.
To access the card, I am using a microSD card reader inside a normal SD card reader (USB). This approach works fine with other microSD cards, but none of the other microSD cards I have are SDHC 1. Could there be an issue with the new card being an SDHC 1? My SD card reader is cheap and old, and lists itself as being SD/SDHC compliant, so no SDHC 1. I have been looking into this, but haven't found anything thus far. The card and card reader work just find together in Windows 7 (same machine), so I doubt it is a hardware problem.
I have seen posts about similar or related issues (such as below), but I am not sure how they apply to my situation because I don't have any issues with other USB storage devices. In the other posts, people seem to be having issues with all USB storage devices. Only this new microSD card is causing me problems.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

The issue was what I expected. I picked a new reader last night and everything works fine. My old card reader just didn't work with the new card.
