Hello i'm a newbie to this forum. In the the past week or so i haven't been able to install from the the AUR, i use packer i always get the same error message (makepkg: invalid option '--asroot'
The build failed.) I have googled numerous times about this problem but haven't encountered anyone else who has had the the same issue. Can anyone help? it would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Welcome to the forums. I'm curious what you tried searching for. Issues related to this have been plastered all over the forums for the past week or so. Here are just a few of the ones that came up immediately in a search for me:

Thanks for the welcome, i certainly need to search the arch forums instead of just googling the problem. I will in the future love the distro by the way. Thanks again.

In hindsight my search wasn't a 'vanilla' google search. Our own forums' web-search tool is pretty much crap, but if you use duckduckgo you can use the !archlinux bang to specifically search our forums. That seems to be the best way to find things here. All those links above came from a ddg search for "--asroot !archlinux".
In any case, if this is fixed, please edit your first post to change the title and prepend "[SOLVED]"

with google you can use
--asroot site:bbs.archlinux.organd it works quite well also if you are stubborn about using google.

I think it's all covered in the great Arch wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Help:Searching :-)

Not really Karol, that seems to be just for searching the wiki.

Ah, yes, it doesn't explicitly say you can do the same with the forum or the AUR.
