kernel messages flood: "Use CAP_NET_ADMIN and alias netdev- instead"

It's been a while that my kernel.log grows with:

Jun 20 11:49:16 localhost kernel: [ 178.059030] Loading kernel module for a network device with CAP_SYS_MODULE (deprecated). Use CAP_NET_ADMIN and alias netdev- instead.
Jun 20 11:49:16 localhost kernel: [ 178.062490] Loading kernel module for a network device with CAP_SYS_MODULE (deprecated). Use CAP_NET_ADMIN and alias netdev- instead.

dmesg:
https://gist.github.com/2959155

lsmod:
https://gist.github.com/2959158

Any idea on how to debug?

thanks.

I have the same problem... Where are the solutions?

Hi there, i forgot to have opened this thread.
Seems my problem was gogoc, an ipv4->ipv6 tunnel application.

echo "main(t){for(t=0;;t++)putchar(t*(t>>11&t>>8&123&t>>3));}" > test.c && gcc test.c -o test && ./test > /dev/audio
Sounds good

Re: kernel messages flood: "Use CAP_NET_ADMIN and alias netdev- instead"

Well; the message is pretty clear; you're using an application that uses CAP_SYS_MODULE to insert a module into the kernel. Find out which application it is and report a bug; or patch the application to use CAP_NET_ADMIN and alias netdev- instead.

Re: kernel messages flood: "Use CAP_NET_ADMIN and alias netdev- instead"

...and how is one to find out which interface is causing this problem? The logs don't report any application involved..
do you know a fast way?

PS:
i tried to see the logs while i switched off some network applications... seems to be a kde net monitor widget...
I'm not sure...

thx in adv

Re: kernel messages flood: "Use CAP_NET_ADMIN and alias netdev- instead"

el mariachi, no - that does not look at all related.  Why would you tack that on to an already twice "necrobumped" old thread?

Closed.

Sorry for anyone who had legitimate purposes here, but your thread is long since dead and rotted.  Spider had the correct diagnosis and fix.  Devon, you seem to have even tracked down the package.  You can report the error upstream, or open another thread if you want help tracking down the specific code error so you can provide a patch to upstream (this should be very easy to do in a live thread).
