Today I installed amd proprietary drivers from amd website. When I checked for direct rendering ( $ glxinfo | grep "direct rendering" ) I got the following error
Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 keyError: unable to open display :0Any suggestions ?

You should install the drivers from the Arch repositories or the AUR:

The wiki just says that there are three ways of installing the driver and one can install directly from the website.
There are three ways of installing Catalyst on your system. One way is to use Vi0L0's (Arch's unofficial Catalyst maintainer) repository. This repository contains all the necessary packages. The second method you can use is the AUR; PKGBUILDs offered here are also made by Vi0L0 and are the same he uses to built packages for his repository. Lastly, you can install the driver directly from AMD.Offline
