Downloading certain embedded videos

Hi all,

I am taking an online course. Unfortunately the video lectures can only be streamed; I was hoping I could download and catch up with two of them on a big flight.

Here is a video lecture (the first one can be streamed for free). I went to firefox's cache and found this link:

so I thought that maybe something like

"

would do the job, but it returned

I also tried some chrome plugins, like "video downloader professional", or "FVD downloader" that claim they can download embedded videos, but they wouldn't find this particular one when visiting the page.

Finally, I tried streaming http://carletonuniv-f.akamaihd.net/z/vo … .wcrop.mp4 with vlc, but returned an error saying that the media cannot be played.

Any ideas?

Is there something I can do to download the video?

EDIT: Some other addons, like Download Helper for firefox, can only download small 1mb pieces at a time. All with the same name http://carletonuniv-f.akamaihd.net/z/vo … .wcrop.mp4

Nevermind.. After registering, a 'download option appeared'. I would still be interested to know the answer to the question out of curiosity, if it is something not very involved.

Geo909, I was concerned with this thread from the start. There are ways to do what you are asking, but they are primarily used to violate copyright and licensing restrictions. I don't suspect that's what you are doing here - and your intent seems perfectly reasonable, so I figured I'd let the thread go so you could find a way to do this.

Now that your valid problem is solved, I don't want this to turn into a collecting place for illegal hacks.
