I'll keep this simple as I know I'll be asked for logs, dmesg, hardware info and such, but don't know exactly what to give right now.
Here are my issues, these have been happening for a long while but I'm just getting frustrated now.
1) USB 2.0 devices and sockets:
whenever I plug in any usb device (thumbdrive, gamepad, android cable...etc) everything stutters and my printer starts warming up. USB works fine after but this is annoying.
2)USB 3.0 device on USB 3.0 socket only:
My system kernel panics and freezes. If I plug it into a USB 2.0 socket it is slow but fine (except the issue above). I have USB 3.0 external HD and a Apricorn USB 3.0 transfer cable that I have tried.
Let me know what to post and I will run through the steps and get what you all need. ![]()
I'm running an up to date XFCE install with no custom kernels or such...
Edit-1: USB 3.0 socket - Plugged in the Apricorn with a HDD connected and my external HDD and niether caused a panic this time. Only issue it the mouse is freezing off and on while they are plugged in. Possibly a kernel or driver update fixed it?
Edit-2:
1) Linux 3.17.6-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Dec 7 23:43:32 UTC 2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux
2) PC - h8-1330z
MB - Gigabyte M3970AM-HP (Angelica2)
USB 3.0 - TUSB73x0 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 xHCI Host Controller
USB 2.0 - SB7x0/SB8x0/SB9x0 USB EHCI Controller
3) Booting standard defaulted syslinux

what kernel version do you have?
what motherboard/usb controller do you have?
do you boot with any special parameter?

Really didn't find out too much about it before, that was why I tried posting here. Although a Google search now brings up this thread...
Edit: found this - http://www.cyberwizzard.nl/gentoo-linux … blems.html
I unloaded the module and it still does it:

my last suggestion is looking for an hardware bug. try to search problems with your or similar hardware, even in other forum
