FAM not starting after upgrade

I ran pacman -Syu and updated fam, along with the other major packages such as gcc, glibc, and the kernel, and when I rebooted, it tried to start fam and gave the following error:

ERROR: fam is not running

I opened /var/log/daemon.log, and found the following entry:

Mar 14 14:52:15 BNH-IP1-B205-05 famd[2207]: can't register with portmapper.
Mar 14 20:03:00 BNH-IP1-B205-05 init: Switching to runlevel: 0

Portmap is already running, and is set to start prior to fam on boot. I'm not sure what's wrong. Any advice?
