Hi,
I have created my own custom Arch live image using Archiso. It contains all my packages and settings and takes about 2gb (the sfs). I copied it to a harddisk and boot it using syslinux.
Most of the time it works fine but unfortunately, quite regularly but not reproducible, the filesystem crashes. No programs can be started (sometimes /usr/bin is completely gone) and most already running programs segfault at the next interaction - I can only reset...
The system has 2gb of RAM and an activated 5gb swap partition. It can happen right after boot, while browsing the web... - when the memory usage is not very high.
What could cause these crashes? Unfortunately I do not have a journal and cannot do very much once it happens...
Thanks!

It's really hard to assist when all you say that it doesn't work or crashes without providing error logs or console output. Do you have any other information that you can provide?
I don't want to work. I want to bang on the drum all day.

I guess because you leave the default cow size untouched, that is sufficient for a tipical usage in releng iso, but maybe not for your case.

Thank you for the hint!
Now I changed the cow filesize to 1gb and made it persistent. That's cool.
I wonder what caused the overflow of the default 256mb.
So if it should happen again, at least the error log should be available...
