[Request] PKGBUILD for infon

Infon Battle Arena is a programming game. You control your creatures using the Lua programming language and let them compete for food and survival. Play online against other players! It is like corewars on steroids

Homepage: http://infon.dividuum.de/
Github: https://github.com/dividuum/infon/
Debian: https://packages.qa.debian.org/i/infon.html

I can't compile infon. Would anybody be so kind to make a PKGBUILD for it ?

Ps if you need the sge package from AUR, you probably need the download link I provided in the comments of that package.

With best regards,

Birkov

Compiles just fine. I might give PKGBUILD a try later today.

Re: [Request] PKGBUILD for infon

Thank you very much for the quick reply !

Looking forward to your PKGBUILD.

Edit: the compile errors that I get are:

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -levent
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lrt
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
Makefile:199: recipe for target 'infond' failed
make: *** [infond] Error 1

Re: [Request] PKGBUILD for infon

https://github.com/dividuum/infon/

Requirements:

  Server:
    libevent (tested with 1.1a)
    zlib

  Client:
    libevent
    zlib

  2D SDL based renderer:
    SDL (tested with 1.2.8)
    SDL_image
    SDL_gfx
    SGE

  3D OpenGL based renderer:
    SDL
    OpenGL

Make sure you have all of those installed before trying to build it.

Re: [Request] PKGBUILD for infon

pacman -Ss libevent
core/libevent 2.0.21-3 [installed]

pacman -Ss zlib
core/zlib 1.2.8-3 [installed]

pacman -Ss sdl
extra/sdl 1.2.15-7 [installed]

pacman -Ss sdl_image
extra/sdl_image 1.2.12-3 [installed]

pacman -Ss sdl_gfx
extra/sdl_gfx 2.0.25-1 [installed]

pacman -Qs sge
local/sge 030809-2

Not sure wich package provides OpenGl but I think infond is the server.

Both

pkgfile levent

and

pkgfile lrt

give no result. So I have no clue what dependency I am missing. Could it  be because I am running 64 bit ?

Oh, there is a libevent1 package in AUR but I didn't want to use that one because firefox depends on libevent. So I kept the official libevent package.

Edit: here the error compiling:

Re: [Request] PKGBUILD for infon

lua-zlib is needed for building it. I don't know why that hasn't been specified in the requirements list though.

Install it and try again. All errors should be gone.

Re: [Request] PKGBUILD for infon

Did some more googling, levent should be in libevent.so (part of libevent) and lrt  should be in librt.so (part of glibc)

pacman -Ss glibc
core/glibc 2.20-6 (base) [installed]
multilib/lib32-glibc 2.20-6 [installed]

I hope that I am not wasting your time and that it is possible to compile infon on 64 bit.

I installed lua-zlib but it still doesn't want to compile:

Re: [Request] PKGBUILD for infon

Triple post FTW:

I gave it another try and got the same error as earlier. But instead of

make clean

I accidently typed

make

and my compiler made infon (viewer) withour errors.
And although my compiler quits with error when I do

make infond

I got a working infond in my working directory.
Dowloaded infon-devel with subversion at http://infon.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/c … nfon-devel and installed pygtksourceview2 as its dependency. Booted infon-devel with

python2 infon-devel.py

and everything seems to work well.

Still got some issues:
infond doesn't quit after 'q'. Still need to press <ctrl>c to get back in my terminal.
infon-devel keeps spitting out the following error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "infon-devel.py", line 348, in set_bt_markers
    self.bugbuf.create_source_mark(None, "bt", line)
TypeError: where should be a GtkTextIter

infon (viewer) uses a bit more CPU power then expected.

I will mail infon's developer about the errors later but now I am going to code me some bugs.

Ps lua-zlib is not needed at all and if somebody wants to make a PKGBUILD for infon, I think he/she should give the Debian binaries a try.

Re: [Request] PKGBUILD for infon

Birkov, where did you get sge? The AUR build seems to be broken.

Anyway, i'm stuck at:

sdl_video.c:24:17: fatal error: sge.h: No such file or directory

EDIT: I managed to build the sge package. After that, infon compiled just fine.

Re: [Request] PKGBUILD for infon

Some download links to sge are provided in the comments of it's AUR page.

I got a reply from the developer of infon and he wants to know what compiler I am using ... gcc or clang. Mine is gcc-multilib 4.9.2-2  ... if u have (no) problems compiling infon, can you guys post which compiler you are using to give him some more feedback ?

EDIT: according to http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/kar … ond.8.html the -d option runs the program daemonized. Requires root.
My infond doesn't daemonize with

 ./infond -d

If you succesfully compiled infond, please post if you can or cannot daemonize infond, to give infon's developer some more feedback. He is looking into it at the moment.
And although he didn't make infon-devel, he is taking a look at that one too. So please post if your infon-devel.py with or without errors.
