Lenovo y510p M.2 SSD

Hello,

Recently I brought an SSD for my laptop. I can boot from this disk (select it on start), but Linux don't attach this disk:

[ 1.518579] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] 250069680 512-byte logical blocks: (128 GB/119 GiB)
[ 1.518705] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] Write Protect is off
[ 1.518711] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00
[ 1.518741] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA
[ 1.519202] sda: unknown partition table
[ 1.519373] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] Attached SCSI disk
[ 15.032406] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] Synchronizing SCSI cache
[ 15.032427] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda]
[ 15.032431] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] Stopping disk
[ 15.032437] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] START_STOP FAILED
[ 15.032439] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda]

Thanks for any help with that.

Re: Lenovo y510p M.2 SSD

I've got exactly the same problem right now. It's also a Y510p. The SSD is an ADATA SP900 M.2 2242.

[ 2.327653] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] 500118192 512-byte logical blocks: (256 GB/238 GiB)
[ 2.327868] scsi 5:0:0:0: Direct-Access ATA ST1000LM014-SSHD LVD3 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
[ 2.327877] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] Write Protect is off
[ 2.327880] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00
[ 2.327944] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA
[ 2.327982] sd 5:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0
[ 2.327997] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdb] 1953525168 512-byte logical blocks: (1.00 TB/931 GiB)
[ 2.327999] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdb] 4096-byte physical blocks
[ 2.328076] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off
[ 2.328078] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00
[ 2.328107] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdb] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA
[ 2.329392] sda: unknown partition table
[ 2.329591] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] Attached SCSI disk

sda would be the ssd.

later:

[ 17.915159] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] Synchronizing SCSI cache
[ 17.915184] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda]
[ 17.915186] Result: hostbyte=DID_BAD_TARGET driverbyte=DRIVER_OK
[ 17.915187] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] Stopping disk
[ 17.915192] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda] START_STOP FAILED
[ 17.915193] sd 4:0:0:0: [sda]

Windows recognizes it without any problems and I could also already create an NTFS partition from there.
I have already updated the SSD firmware to the newest version, but nothing changed.

By the way, I am using Linux Mint 17.1, not Arch.

Any ideas?

Re: Lenovo y510p M.2 SSD

Ok, I just got it working by disabling AHCI in the BIOS.
So I will use it like this until maybe eventually I can get it working with AHCI.
