Poor HD playback ATI HD3200

I am experiancing poor hd playback on files with all media players, mplayer, vlc and mpv. I have a ATI HD3200 intergrated GPU using the proprietry Catalyst legacy drivers. Im using the xvba backend along with the libvdpau_va_gl package for VA-API/VDPAU decoding. I remember reading that my chipset needed UVD2 to take advantage of thew xvba backend and according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unified_Video_Decoder i should be good to go. Anyone with this card had any results they would like to share? Thanks in advance. Here is some relevnt info.
