Microsoft LX 3000 Problems

Hi.

I have a Microsoft LX 3000 Headset. My Arch is running with ALSA and Pulseaudio and I've got a bunch of weird Problems:

1. Volume value not right (Playback is muted with volume lower than ~30%)(same under ubuntu)
Fixed with following line in /etc/pulse/default.pa:
    load-module module-udev-detect ignore_dB=1

2. Audacity:
    Playback with Audacity over ALSA:
    - Audio plays too fast. About 10 times to fast or so...
    - recording works

3. Skype (Pulseaudio)
    -Playback fine
-recording. total disaster. skype can use the device but the signal is distorting very much. It's not usable. If I put every volume control on 0bB (Skype and Pulseaudio) it is quiet but it's ok. Any value other than those 100%/0dB isn't working.
4. Tox see: tox.im (no clue what it is using. I think ALSA)
    -works fine

the Headset works with ALSA and Pulseaudio on my Ubuntu 14.04.

Can anyone help me with these problems? It's totally weird...

Thank you in advance

Re: Microsoft LX 3000 Problems

Okay.

I think I was able to fix the problem.

I added
default-fragments = 5
default-fragment-size-msec = 5

to the /etc/pulse/daemon.conf
I just picked random values.
the playback in Audacity is working now.
I will test it with Skype this evening (UTC+1)

I hope it'll work out big_smile

Just a pointer, there is a way to calculate the needed values https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … _recording this may give you more accurate results

Re: Microsoft LX 3000 Problems

Ok. The way above solves most problems. But I have 1 Youtube video which sound is distorted unless you put chrome on 100% in pulseaudio.
A friend has the same problem with that video. However, his PC plays the sound correctly after a short time.

It's only that one youtube video. I'm able to play any other videos without problems. I think it's because I have ignore_dB=1 in my default.pa I'll remove it and see whether the problem is solved.

Re: Microsoft LX 3000 Problems

Okay. removing the ignore_dB=1 part, soves the problem with that youtube video hmm

I think I'll buy a new Headset. This one is almost broken big_smile
