I've been having problems booting my ThinkPad T440. More often than not, it boots to a black screen. Looking carefully at the screen it looks like it's off. I get graphics all the up until GDM loads. Soon as the GUI starts, the screen shuts off. If I reboot it, it will eventually get me to a GDM login, but the display brightness is down to the lowest possible setting. Sometimes one reboot will get me to GDM.. Sometimes it takes as many as 10 before I am able to log in.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
It appears the T440 had an Intel HD Graphics 4600 Video Card.

Had a similar issue using GNOME 3 a while ago (X61). Switch to UXA as described on the Intel wiki page.

Glamor seems to be stable now -- I've been using it for a while on my HD4600 under GNOME 3 with no issues.

What advantage does Glamour give me over SNA or UXA?

Glamor was merged into the X.Org server in version 1.16 and provides 2D acceleration implemented over OpenGL so X.Org DDX drivers no longer need to implement 2D-specific code-paths.
It is universal amongst OpenGL/OpenGL ES supported hardware, so this link is relevant to Intel drivers as well:
