I am interested in developing a standalone Subsonic client for Linux. Various players have plugins but they are usually pretty bare-bones. I would like to develop something using the pysonic bindings (not sure about my choice in graphical toolkit yet) but am wondering, what is the recommended audio library to use for deploying python audio applications? I notice that mopidy uses gstreamer as a backend and I also see that there is an ALSA python library. Does anyone have experience working with audio in python or audio apps in linux in general? At this point, I'll probably look into using gstreamer as a backend (using this guide http://www.jonobacon.org/2006/08/28/get … h-python/), but I'd be interested in hearing any experiences or recommendations from users on this forum. Thanks in advance!

Gstreamer is pretty much the only sane choice, unless you like to either have half the world hate you, or don't mind writing and maintaining support for 4 different audio systems at once
