[SOLVED] aura: compressing package

Why do we have to compress package even if we're it using it once for local installation?

It takes 1-2 minutes for bigger package and it's quite annoying and resource wasting:

<omitted>
==> Creating package "jdk"...
  -> Generating .PKGINFO file...
  -> Adding install file...
  -> Generating .MTREE file...
  -> Compressing package...

Should be compressing of package disable in aura?

Re: [SOLVED] aura: compressing package

You can set PKGEXT to tar in makepkg.conf to disable compression. The man page does say that you shouldn't change PKGEXT unless you know what you're doing though, so there may be a few hidden caveats.
