Yesterday I bought a Creative Audigy FX sound card. I got home, put it in my computer, and found that it doesn't work well on Linux.
At first, there was absolutely no sound coming out of it... I then googled a little, and found that you can reload the snd_hda_intel module, and it sometimes works for people.
For me though, after I reload the module I can hear some sound, but still a lot of crackling in between.
Strangely, there is one case in which the crackling disappears.... to start, I run two graphics cards, and one X-screen for each with i3wm. On my main monitor, I run mocp to play music. On the second monitor, I run firefox.
Here's where it gets strange... if I play music in mocp on its own, it is really crackly and unbearable. However, if I open youtube (in which I have a dark theme for), and scroll constantly with the mouse wheel, the crackling stops, and I have clear sound.
I assume there's some kind of PCI interference here... I tried disabling the second X-server, running just my main monitor, and it makes no difference.
Anyone have any ideas? I can provide info as needed! I use pulse.... because of skype. 3.18.5-1-ck (piledriver)
I should note, it works fine in windows 8.1 on the same machine (dual boot).
