How do u expect to get 2.14 if u don't test 2.14rc in Testing, just give the developer a bi of help before they give u a working product

Now this is what I don't get. Why would you test 2.13 or even a pre release 2.14 just to get 2.14 out? When it is released they fix bugs that were found with the previous version.

Why test a version that is older and does not have the ALREADY KNOWN bug fixes in 2.14? Makes more sense to test 2.14 final with those bugs fixed than to go back in time and test the broken one?

Or .... is it that in order to get the PRIVILEDGE to try 2.14 we have to simply run through the motions and formalities of 2.13 first? This doesnt make sense.

if you guys want it to hit testing soon, please test the gnome 2.13 repo Razz
2.14 RC is in there and the 2.14 final hasn't gotten much changes.

There aint much changes. That's what tends to happen with the last Release Candidate, it gets released, often with little or no changes.

It will hit the repos in time. Give the devs a chance, our Gnome developer left us earlier this year, and many of them are very busy with real life stuff.

Sorry, noobish question. I added the repository to my conf file and synced. What is the gnome package name to install? Pacman -S gnome gives me 2.12. And I've tried gnome2.13, gnome2.14, gnome2.14rc, and even gnome-desktop-2.14.0-1. Thanks.

Make the repository the first one listed in pacman.conf.  It should work then.

Now grab dbus-sharp from abs, change the pkgver to 0.61 ( and of course md5sums ) and makepkg ; pacman -U ...

Oh, thx, upgraded now Seems to work pretty well.

However, i have seen like an search feature in the deskbar, where you can search on amazon, google, hd, and so on. (beagle?) Any ideas how to get it?

I had it before but now i can't see it, maybe they splited it into another package, give it some time man, kde 3.5.2 ( ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/ ) will be released soon, then Gnome 2.14 will go Testing and devs will give gnome2.14 to everyone

Ok ive upgraded to gnome 2.14, and I didnt have to do the dbus-sharp thing gandalf suggested.

It doesnt really look any different to me..

For example, when I press logout, all the choices I get are switch user, cancel and logout..

Or for example I read that gnome had its own screensaver now, cant find that anywhere...

alot of thing that gnome is supposed to have, I cant find..

how come?

I try to change gdm theme with /opt/gnome/sbin/gdmsetup (as root).
The application segfaults when I select a theme in the themelist. It also occurs when I do it through the login screen of GDM (it launches the same application).
