Often hang at boot up with "worker ....... is taking a long time"

Hi,

Randomly around 25% of the times I boot up my PC, it hangs at bootup with messages like:

starting version 218
worker [80] /devices/pci0000:0/0000:0:8.2/ata3/host2/target:0:0/2:0:0:0 is taking a long time

I think this started when I began using an SSD as main harddisk. However, the SSD always works fine, and rebooting usually fixes it.

How can I get rid of this behaviour? I put in the SSD for faster boot time, not for randomly having no boot at all 25% of the time...

uname -a:
Linux 3.18.5-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jan 30 07:31:50 CET 2015 x86_64 GNU/Linux
The disk is:  Samsung 850 Pro (256GB, 2.5")
And it's a desktop PC.

Happens to me too, but a lot less, more like 1 each 50 boots, a reboot solves the problem and as the filesystems never get mounted I'd say there's no harm done...

System:

Intel Q9550
Asus P5QSE2 (Intel P45)
2xPATA drives (DVD and CDRW)
3xSATA (SSD+2HDD)
8GB DDR2

I've always suspected the onboard PATA adapter to be the culprit of this...
