Installing arch in a UEFI mobo on SSD disk

Guys my old rig died and I`m with some doubts regarding my new setup. It has been 5 years since I installed arch (thanks to rolling release big_smile ) so many things did change. One question, as suggested on the wiki I want to keep my logs partition out of ssd according to:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Solid_State_Drives

One question is what should I do install all in SSD and then move /var with a tool like dd or setup a mixed disk layout?

Re: Installing arch in a UEFI mobo on SSD disk

I don't understand, could you tell us more details?

1. Do you have only a SSD or both a SSD and a hard disk on your new computer?
2. Is your question about doing a "normal" install, then creating a separate /var partition later on? I got confused in this part. If this is the case, why not create a separate /var partition in the first place?

Re: Installing arch in a UEFI mobo on SSD disk

If it's a modern production SSD, just treat it like a normal hard drive with the exception of a "discard" option in the fstab.

Modern SSDs are very reliable -- all the advice on the interweb relating to minimising writes is effectively obsolete.
