How do I add folders under "My Computer" in nemo file manager?

Basically, I want to have folders such as Documents, Downloads, Videos, like in the "My computer" tab show in nemo in this screenshot https://camo.githubusercontent.com/948e … 372e706e67 but I can't seem to figre out how to do such a thing. Just make the directories and add them to the sidebar in Nemo. Have you tried this?

The direcotires already exist, via an xorg- package I cant remember what its called anymore. How would I go about adding them to the sidebar? I have tried dragging them but it does not go in. I can't find any preferences for them either.

Xorg? I'm not familiar with this aspect of xorg. Normally these directories would be under the home directory. What behavior are you getting when you try to add shortcuts to the nemo sidebar? This has never been a problem for me.

I just installed xdg-user-dirs and had no problem drag-and-dropping the folders to the Nemo sidebar.

Strange, when you drag them in are they going under "Bookmarks" or "My computer"? Whenever I try to drag mine anywhere under "My Computer" it just jumps under to the Bookmarks tab.

Ok, I tried it in Nemo 2.4.4 in Linux Mint 17.1. Here's what happens:

The "My Computer" section in the sidebar has these shortcuts in it: Home, Desktop, Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos, Downloads, Recent, File System, Trash. There is also a section in the sidebar for "Devices" and "Network".

When I can click and drag a folder (for example, "Templates") into the sidebar I get three options:

Drop it onto a shortcut, which would move the folder to a new location.
Add it to the list of shortcuts under "My Computer", which would place it in between two other shortcuts in the sidebar.
A "Bookmarks" section appears in the sidebar, which allows me to add the folder as a shortcut in that section (instead of the "My Computer" section).

Since you are using Arch Linux, I have no idea if you have Nemo configured the same what that it is on Linux Mint.

What version of Nemo are you using?

First off thanks for assisting me. I have nemo 2.4.5 and haven't done any extra configuration....I just spent a bit of time looking in the files where nemo is located I can't seem to find any specific config files. I too have a comptuer running Linux mint 17 if I could just find some type of main configuration file I could try and copy some of the things to the machine running arch.

I still haven't figured it out. Does anyone think its a bug? I go on linux mint forums and see posts that people just say you can drag folders back up from "Bookmarks" to "My Computer" but it doesnt work on several arch installations.

In case you are still struggling with it. You probably are able to solve it in two easy steps:

First drag and drop your folder from the right pane into the Bookmarks area. Then drag and drop the bookmark which you just added into the "My Computer" area.
