asus h87m-plus no root found

I've been assigned to install an application server on a new desktop. This desktop has to be working with two SATA drives on a RAID array. The install goes smooth and everything works, but when I umount everything and reboot to test the instalation, grub doesn't find the root UUID. I've checked and it is the same uuid of the device. I tried changing between UUID's, using device names (with /dev path instead of uuid) and tried grub, grub2 and syslinux and nothing seems to work.

Any ideas on what might be the problem?

I suspect on asus MOBO hardware/driver issue but can't put my finger on it.
